Akihiro Gono weighing in for UFC 94 versus Fitch, with his usual afro.

Akihiro Gono is a retired mixed martial artist who competed at middleweight, welterweight and lightweight.

Gono dropped to lightweight for his most recent fight in Sengoku against Jadamba Narantungalag. The foreigner with the strange name defeated Gono via solid unanimous decision, outworking him en route to the scorecards.

After a long hiatus, Gono signed to make his Bellator debut in a non-title "superfight" against current undefeated Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler. Chandler defeated Gono quickly via TKO and Gono retired after the loss.
